Olmo & the Seagull (Petra Costa/Lea Glob, 2015)
De ofrivilliga/Involuntary (Ruben Östlund, 2008)
Deux jours, une nuit (Jean-Pierre & Luc Dardenne, 2014)

Stray Dogs
A Touch of Sin
The Strange Little Cat
Hard to Be a God
Phoenix
Like Father Like Son
Holy Motors
Laurence Anyways
Himizu Guilty of Romance

Wig, I want to see your list!

Did a little digging and found that four of my ten don't appear on any of the Little White Lies lists. Totally understandable in the case of The Strange Little Cat, Like Father Like Son, and Himizu. But where is A Touch of Sin?!

Also, I put the wrong Sono on mine. Guilty of Romance is a significantly greater film, though I love it somewhat less.

Fuck this was so hard! I went for what I consider "Best" as opposed to "Favorite" if that distinction matters

The Turin Horse
Under the Skin
Saint Laurent
Goodbye to Language
The Master
To the Wonder
Melancholia
Margaret
Nobody's Daughter Haewon
Computer Chess

Yeah, I mostly did, too. Which is why I should have used the other Sono.

Computer Chess was on my shortlist (along with Post Tenebras Lux, A Field in England and A Simple Life).

Sorry. The hype is huge on that one, unfortunately. But Hou Hsiao-hsien is like a top 5 director for me, so it was damn near inevitable in my case. It's a contender for his best film IMO.

I have. It's so good! Another haunting poem of loss, but this time transplanting Ventura from the dreamy Lisbon of Colossal Youth to a timeless prison/hospital/mental space of torment and regret. It sent shivers down my spine.

Hmm, I don't know how I'd rank it. It's very similar to Colossal Youth, but darker, with much broader concerns of history and guilt.

I could maybe put his work in tiers:

Horse Money/ Colossal Youth/ Casa de Lava
Ossos/ O Sangue
In Vanda's Room

Interesting, thanx.

I think i'm one of the few that holds Ossos in pretty high regard (tier 1)
