Yeah, abstract qualities have been slowly becoming more and more a part of my work. That piece is about two years old now, but it is an important place for me.

Do you still have the corrected image of the painting you did for me?

I don't know how to look it up on RT.

The Future Unreels will also lose all its images on the same day. But just think about how many images Jedi has on Photobucket, and the other posters here.

Hm. I might on my studio computer... but that's not working right currently.

Here's a few more of my paintings:

Hank's paintins are the kind of paintings I would expect to see on a museum, I don't know exactly what this means. They are good. Maybe too good.

Thanks for the compliments! I recently started thinking about putting my work up for sale online. Currently, my the majority of my sales are commissioned pieces. I also am working toward getting a stand at an art festival which features artists from all down the east coast.

I'm just starting to get my feet wet. I'm not looking to get rich... just good times.

Top-left and bottom-right catch my eye the most. I really would like a closer look at the colours.

I like them all, by he way.

Can't ever go too large with this kinda stuff. My favorite thing to do in art museums is stick my face as close to the art as the security will allow and admire the brushstrokes, really trying to dismantle the painting with my eyes.

I love to look at art up close as well. As well as taking a few steps back and seeing how those same strokes change from far away.

Curious... I've set up an online store. These paintings are 4"x4" acrylic on gessoed Arches paper. What would you expect to pay for them?

Is it with http://www.etsy.com/ ? I would browse for other people's artwork for sale that's similar to yours, for cost comparisons.

Prints? 20 bucks is good.
Originals? 80 bucks. Selling original work should be priced on a different standard. Moderately famous artists sell large originals for upwards of half a thousand dollars.

Thanks. I wish I could've cleaned it up a bit more, added more to the face, but it's due tomorrow and I had to make something, I scrapped about 10 pieces before deciding on that.

Weight and depth are incredibly difficult to suggest, you do a really good job at it in this. I think it's a great piece.

That's a pretty nice piece Das floyd, I like the expression. I must say that my tablet skills are possibly my worst artistic skills. Probably because I don't have to teach it. I don't even have my own tablet. I used one in college... and have access to them as a graduate student, but haven't invested in one yet. You're quite lucky to get one for $0

I never had the vision for scratchboard... or sculpting for that matter... nor the patience. Good stuff Hank!
I can't seem to look at a canvas and know what was going to end up on it... well, besides a mess of oil paint and turpenoid.
I could make a mean stretched canvas though.

A recent landscape. I've been mainly working on square surfaces lately... but this is one of probably half a dozen rectangular pieces I've been tinkering with.

Found it!

I wish I could post more, but a lot of what I've done in the last 4 months has either been sold, is too large to properly present here, or is under NDA for the time being. A quick acrylic exercise I did today, 16 by 20, acrylic on canvas. I enjoyed the outcome.

Anyway, I'm going to keep an up to date progression on my painting final:

Really working tone now, glazing and applying thin layers of color. So much to do though. It'll be satisfying to watch it evolve.

I need to mess with my camera settings though, some of those oranges are reds, and the blues should be a bit deeper if it were color accurate.

Looking nice. (Colorimetry is much better in that still) I've put off pointing this one thing out, as I'm probably the only one it disturbs, but the mass of red tones to the left, behind the woman's hair, distracts my eye from the hair. Perhaps you intend that.

Also, and I know you aren't finished with anything at this point, my brain seems to want to see something in the background responding to the wind that is blowing her hair into such interesting shapes.

Mere thoughts. Not suggestions.

Yeah, the painting's in a studio right now, but I definitely noticed this, and balanced it out by pulling darker purples into the hair, and lighter blues into the red. Don't have a photo until Tuesday though, sadly.

In the meantime, here's a page from my sketchbook, took about 5-10 minutes, with 4 colored pencils ( 2 cool greys, a brown and a red pencil). Simplistic, but I liked the outcome.
