Seeing A Simple Favor tonight. Big Little Lies and Sharp Objects have made me a sucker for domestic thrillers. With Paul Feig at the helm, let's hope it's more Spy and not so much Ghostbusters.

Overdue response here, but... Rock wrote: I am not Genie but that sounds interesting to me. ...yay! I was thinking of following a strict "5 albums per year" policy for each and every year, so my writings don't get too repetitive or redundant (since you don't need me writing about 10 different thrash records for '86 to know that was a peak year for the genre, or write about every classic death metal record from '91, or every black metal album from '94). Instead, the thread would be focused on overall historical importance, focusing on one example from as many different sub-genres each year as possible, and explain why that record was so important. It'll be a big undertaking, I know, but I know it'll be a blast regardless, so stay tuned!

With tasting notes and general thoughts! Bourbon:Makers 46 - An even creamier, sweeter, oakier Makers. I am almost out of this one but decided to get something new (Oppidan 4 grain) instead of replacing it. More of a comment on my desire to always get something new to me than a comment on its quality. 1792 Single Cask - At 63% abv it is remarkably smooth and drinkable, till the afterburn kicks in. Good when you want to take it real slow, still haven't gotten around to trying it on the rocks yet which might open it up and smooth out the late kick, mostly because you can't put ice in my fancy whiskey tasting glasses. Jeffersons Ocean - It's such a dumb gimmick that I want to hate, but holy fuck is it good. Salted caramel rich thick goodness. Fucking expensive though. Colonel E.H Taylor Small Batch - Very sweet, fruity, spicy. Prolly my overall favorite sipping bourbon at this exact moment. Blantons - Tastes exactly like you think a good bourbon should. Maybe a little boring. Eagle Rare - Very, very smooth. Subtle oak, vanilla and citrus, this one is the first one that really got me on the sipping bourbon train, but it might also be just a touch boring now. It will always hold a special place to me though, and the bottle is fucking beautiful. Woodford Reserve Double Oaked - Quite oaky, believe it or not. Bulleit 10yr - It's okay. Elijah Craig Small Batch - Super nutty, sweet and smooth. Knob Creek Small Batch - Same as the Bulleit 10 yr for me, Nothing really stands out or impresses. Japanese:Suntory Toki - A little fruity and a real raw alcohol edge. Nikka From the Barrel - Touch of smoke, not a ton really going on here aside from that. NIkka Pure Malt Black - More smoke, and definitely a heavier feel without being rich or sweet, I have a pretty low tolerance for smoky flavors and zero tolerance for peat, this is right up to the line for my personal preferences, but it stays on the good side of that line Rye: Basil Haydens Dark Rye - Basically a premixed manhattan in a bottle. The purist in me should hate it, but it's pretty darn tasty with all that berry tasting port they pur in their. I like it less as it goes on though, so when I am sipping it I don't do the usual ole Evil heavy pour. Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye - Not the best whiskey in the world despite the claims of some, it's smooth and it has some rye spice in there, but it's still a canadian whiskey at heart, which to me signifies too sweet and bland with all the fun edges sanded off. Irish:Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition - I guess my palate isn't that good, but this is just Jameson to me. Jameson is good, don't get me wrong, but this aint worth the extra five bucks or whatever it is. Redbreast 12 yr - I love this one a lot. A lot of whiskeys have similar flavor profiles, citrus, vanilla, oak, etc, and this isn't doing anything crazy out there, it's just really fucking good at what it does. Scotch: Adelphi Blended - A scotch that hits a lot of the same flavors as bourbon, my kind of scotch. I also keep Wild Turkey 101 bourbon, regular Makers Mark bourbon, RIttenhouse and Old Overholt Rye but those are basically cocktail exclusive. I think that's it, I'm sure I forgot one. Also, my christmas list is exclusively whiskey so it should expand a bit in a couple months.

It was actually surprisingly a pretty light tasting beer. I thought with Russia's reputation for hard booze it would've been much, much stronger.
I plan to drink all the Russian drinks in December, Evil. All of them.
