I was trying to pin that accent... why does Ireland have this small yet pronounced rap scene? Is there more behind House of Pain?

Oh no, it's fine, and by all considerable metrics this should be a movie I have seen yesterday. The world just got super dumb or something

I wasn't really that jazzed about 1, so I haven't been beating a path to see 2. Also, 11 fucking days in this sweltering northern blast furnace.

I did watch Triple 9 today after work though. It was not good.

I wasn't head-over-heels for the original Wick either, but Chapter 2 was definitely a better film; the scale of its globetrotting story was a lot bigger in terms of variety of locations, it gave us a more colorful, better developed version of the Wick universe, and it had better, more brutal, more memorable action overall. Think about checking it out sometime.

Anyway, the last new viewing I had was Snowpiercer, the first Bong Joon-ho movie I've ever seen, and I'm baffled at how it got 95% of critics at The Other Place to give it a fresh review. It isn't bad or anything, and I don't regret having watched it for its sheer, constant batshit creativity, but its particular creativity just feels chaotic, like Bong just threw as many different random elements as quickly as he could into one movie, without thinking through how he was going to make it a coherent experience. Again, not bad, but I just dunno about it.

Stu, you should watch High Rise if you fancy a Snowpiercer-esque style bonanza - it manages to be overall more coherent. I really dig that movie :shifty:.

I went to a new mechanic that Yelp reviews convinced me was better and now I'm dropping $400 to fix one of the two problems inflicting my car. Please God, please destroy Yelp if this doesn't work.

Yelp's sure had a lot of amusing reviews of T-rump properties lately, though.

So I'm stumbling around the internet and there is a Neil Labute Van Helsing show starring Tom Cruise as Van Helsing..? I'd watch that

First TV role for Cruise. Something seems intriguing about this, I've been following Labute for a while... in the company of men and all that

The original Universal horror directors knew how to make films on small budgets with cheap effects. Their artistry is what contributes to the lasting influence of the films, this Mummy remake looks inferior in comparison.

It also just seems odd to make the mummy a small witch and makes it a big global disaster movie. And the last one was about a Romanian count during war who becomes Dracula. Guys, maybe just make a monster movie first.

A great director paired with an actor who showed his talents in the last Avengers movie. I'm pumped.

Good. Wick 2 is still my favorite movie of 2017. For now.

I slightly prefer High Rise to Snowpiecer. Odd how the Wheatley ended up being the weirder film.

Heh Thor and Hulk would have ended Civil War really early. And yes Wonder Woman is a cool flick.

Speaking of which, Genie, do you still have the link to that "My magic lamp!" thread you posted back at The Other Place, and then it didn't get a reply for over a year or something until after you were made a mod, and it was someone requesting for you to do something mod-y? That one was amusing.
