Not a Guitar Hero story, but one of my favorite memories from college was watching these guys perform "Painkiller" on every single instrument in Rock Band (on Normal difficulty, granted, but still), and getting to hear their vocalist sing what was essentially a pitch-fucking-perfect Halford impression on it...

Based on the reviews of The Disaster Artist, I really believe that it could get a screenplay nomination. i think Franco could have finally found his great movie here.

It's a tough deal and I'm kinda just used to the whole dead leaves sensation of it all where the most you can do is just go out, have a smoke, and move on. I retain that it ultimately opens up grounds for, well. Brand New. What a trip, I might need to go listen to science fiction again. It's a layer

Korg was my MVP. I can't believe the director basically made the whole movie an inside joke based on how stoned he was making it, and everything he said had me rolling. The whole cast killed it. Jules is throwing down some seriously upsetting numbers up there

This is a best-to-worst list of the superhero movies you've seen this year, right? Personally, I'd rank them:

Logan
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 2
Thor: Ragnarok
(review still in progress)
Wonder Woman

I thought Logan was a real game-changer for superhero films in the sort of unparalleled, dark, emotional maturity it had, while all of the MCU entries this year were quite fun and enjoyable. Wonder Woman, on the other hand, was a bit just going through the motions, and was kind of like the Hillary Clinton of superhero movies (mostly only notable because the hero happens to be a woman this time, and that's kind of it), but at least it was still competent at being generic, which is step in the right direction for the DC movies compared to everything else they've put out so far. Speaking of DC, I imagine I might catch an early showing of Justice League this Thursday, just to see if it's as big a flustercuck as it looks, or if the early, positive-ish word of mouth so far is justified; here's hoping!

Honestly Logan and Thor are at such different comicbook spectrums and I like them for completely different reasons. But they were easily my favorite of the group. Wonder-woman no mans land scene might have been my favorite overall comicbook movie scene of the year. Which allows me to forgive the end misstep. Guardians was fun, but a let down compared to the original. Still love all the characters in that. Spider-man had vulture and Keaton.

I think I rank Spider-Man tops just because it was so nice to see this character in his element again. Not saving the world. Just stopping bad guys. And Keaton was so good as Vulture.

There wasn't enough plot for a whole movie. But they just kept piling on more bits that get progressively stupider and ruin the low key tone of the first half hour. But while it goes on it's downward slide, the dialogue and acting stays pretty damn good. It's a well made bad movie.

Mildly pleased maybe. We could talk bourbon. Speaking of which, making bourbon marinated ribeyes tomorrow, which sounds like heresy but the professional chefs of cooks country assure me that it makes two great things even fucking better. Maybe you could make some bourbon steamed chicken breast and we could compare?

Ragnarok was a pretty good time, but the comedic parts in it were definitely stronger than the more serious material (while the previous Thors had the opposite problem, so they're still working out the right balance for the series, haha), and a lot of the stuff happening on Asgaard felt like a bit of a half-hearted diversion, so I would rank it below the other MCU entries for the year. Like Ace said, Homecoming did a good job of bringing ol' Spidey back down to earth as an in-over-his-head high schooler just trying to do what he can to save the day, while Guardians 2, while naturally not as refreshing an experience as the original, still did a good job of telling a new story with the Guardians without just rehashing everything from #1 note for note. At any rate, it looks like Wonder Woman's officially off the hook as being my least favorite superhero movies of the year, but I'll go into more detail on that front in the Recently Seen thread soon, heh.

Must stay current on the cinematic zeitgeist!
