The FutureUnreels will also lose all its images on the same day. But just think about how many images Jedi has on Photobucket, and the other posters here.
Omg! I don't know if this is the "Rubies... Murder" film that he's been working on for so long but Rustam Khamdamov, one of the great surrealists still alive, has a new film just about to premiere at the Moscow Film Festival: http://39.moscowfilmfestival.ru/miff39/ ... /?id=39038
* The Sun in a Net / Uher ** The Seashell and the Clergyman / Dulac The Tales of Beatrix Potter / Mills * A Flood in Ba'ath Country / Amiralay Times and Winds / Erdem Most Beautiful Island / Asensio * Japanese Girls Never Die / Matsui * Birth Certificate / Różewicz Bush Mama / Gerima ** Paris Is Burning / Livingston
I don't know what's going on and I like it. I wouldn't call DuVernay a visionary yet, but I think she is well on her way to be one if this science fiction film succeeds.

Re: Upcoming Films Worth Knowing About
You know, I've read that book twice (one for each kid) and I don't recall enough of it to know whether this is a fairly straight adaptation or not. Maybe that's a good thing?

Indeed; here's an embedded version for us to check out:
Looks pretty damn cool to me, which is saying something, because personally, I never thought either of the Avenger films to date lived up to their full potential (and I haven't seen every MCU movie, but so far, the original Avengers is actually my least favorite of the bunch; yes, I am being serious). And the Russo bros managed to make Civil War my FAVORITE of the franchise to date, so I'm hopeful they'll do a better job with this one, even with all the characters/plot points/huge battles they'll have to cram into it. And, also...
Early Phantom Thread reviews are looking fantastic.

I'm not very familiar with the source material, but is it possible Alita will be what Ghost in the Shell aspired to be?
Robert Rodriguez has made some great stuff. And look at that cast.

The trailer was a mixed bag in quality, really it's just those effing eyes which are throwing me off. Battle Angel Alita is one of my favorite comics and my #1 pick for a movie adaptation, this is a huge project for me. They get parts of the designs right, like, good job on her arm, good job on Daisuke Ido (Christoph Waltz), and I like the designs of the other androids... but what the fuck are those eyes! Alita is such a strong character design and they just blew it with that decision. THOSE EYES
Like ^ those are tame for anime eyes. What did they dooooo

I'm maybe warming up to the trailer, they get the tone right and rly everything but the eyes is good, and maybe the eyes are good idk *throws arms up in the air*
I just really wish they wen't with a more Sin City style of thing with the 3D instead of Mars Needs Moms, the movie I had in mind was a lot more impressionistic, think Scott Pilgrim. Dammit. This is why studios need to hire me already so I don't let the important ones slip by unchecked

Re: Upcoming Films Worth Knowing About
The only thing I can pin on the design decision is that it's a thing in manga and anime for the protagonist to be "overworked" compared to the rest of the cast. Big hair, bigger eyes, generally meant to be the point of focus in a frame while the rest of the cast is more tame in comparison. Alita, in the manga, does have big eyes relative to the rest of the cast, but this seems to be a design decision lost in translation because there is no mention of her eyes in the manga. They are being too literal with the page to screen translation. Here you just want to look away while in the manga she is meant to pop off of the page
