That hideous trailer actually sparks a mild interest in me, something I haven't felt for this trainwreck of a franchise since Batman v. Superman. It looks enchantingly awful, oozing the sort of cheese that we were only given pleasant little glimpses of in the schizophrenic Justice League movie. This seriously might be the first DCEU film I see in a theater. I mean, did you see the mounted shark infantry fighting the giant lobsters?

Aquaman looks passable. It will probably do alright. Shazam, however, looks like the worst movie ever made

The only thing I got from that awful looking Aquaman trailer was shark army. They should make a spin-off movie of just giant sharks fighting each other.

Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, James Corden, Ian McKellen Cast in Movie Version of ‘Cats':

Article wrote:
Taylor Swift, James Corden and Ian McKellen have been cast in Working Title’s upcoming movie version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s smash musical “Cats.”

Tom Hooper, the Oscar-winning director of “The King’s Speech,” will direct “Cats,” which is set to begin shooting in Britain in November. The screenplay by Lee Hall (“Billy Elliot”) is based on Lloyd Webber’s musical, which was itself adapted from a book of children’s poems by T.S. Eliot.

Hudson, who won an Oscar in 2007 for her breakout role in “Dreamgirls,” will play Grizabella, the former “glamour cat” who falls on hard times and gets to sing about it in showstopper “Memory.” It’s unclear which roles will be played by Swift, Corden and McKellen.

So does that mean that the filmmakers aren't confident enough to open the film in theaters or are they gonna make more money streaming? Netflix must have made a hell of an offer.

I think they realised they would not make their money back through a traditional theatrical release for another Jungle Book adaptation coming out within only a few years of the Disney one, especially one with a reportedly less family-friendly atmosphere. Not speaking as to the quality of the eventually released film, but it kind of had 'box office bomb' written all over it until now.

Well, if you're at work right now, that's probably for the best, though it actually isn't a clip from that scene from Double Down, but Rich Evans of RedLetterMedia fame attempting to explain the "plot" of the film, so they do (mostly) censor the nudity. At any rate, hopefully you can check it out later at home, since it is legitimately one of the funniest videos I've ever seen on Youtube.

Supergirl makes the leap to DC's big-screen superhero universe:

Article wrote:
Warner Bros and DC are developing a feature film based around Supergirl, the heroine and cousin of Superman. Oren Uziel (the writer of The Cloverfield Paradox and 22 Jump Street) is working on the script, I’ve confirmed. Not a lot more is being divulged at this point, and it comes as a surprise considering most internet chatter has been based on what will next happen for Superman, who after the 2013 film Man of Steel, was conscripted to become key to the plots of Batman V Superman, and more recently Justice League.

There is no producer on Supergirl at this point. According to DC mythology, the character was a teen when she escaped the doomed planet Krypton along with the infant who grew up as Clark Kent. Supergirl has been played by Melissa Benoist in the Greg Berlanti Warner Bros series creation that heads into Season Four on the CW.

When did this come about? I saw the trailer to this yesterday and never heard of it.

First off, this sickens me that a classic like Papillon could ever be remade because it was perfect. It is good to see that the Hollywood "sell-out" theme is still alive and well. Well gotta go, going to see a "Uncle Drew" and "Crazy Rich Asians" double feature".

Star Trek 4 May Lose Chris Pine and Hemsworth!:

Article wrote:
Two years ago, Paramount Pictures revealed that Star Trek 4 would be a time travel adventure that somehow reunited Chris Pine’s Captain James T. Kirk with George Kirk, as portrayed by Chris Hemsworth in the opening minutes of the first Star Trek reboot film. However, the disappointing box office of Star Trek Beyond appeared to slow down progress on the sequel. Now, Star Trek 4 has reportedly advanced far enough that deals are already being negotiated between the studio and the returning cast. The bad news is that both Pine and Hemsworth may be out of the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramounts talks with both Pine and Hemsworth have fallen through over salary issues. The report indicates that Pine and Hemsworth want Paramount to honor their previously made deals, while the studio is attempting to “hold the line on a budget.” Essentially, the actors feel that they would be forced to accept pay cuts under the terms they were offered, while the studio contends that the franchise can’t afford to pay them on par with their respective DC and Marvel films. It’s a fair point that Star Trek Beyond lost money, but the entire point of this upcoming film was to unite the Kirks for the first time. And it simply won’t have the same resonance if two other actors step in for Pine and Hemsworth.

The studio doesn’t appear to be willing to scrap the movie over their potential departures, and the deals with Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, and John Cho are “expected to close.” It would be very odd to continue the reboot series with a new Captain Kirk, but not impossible. There is also the possibility that Pine and Hemsworth will return to the negotiating table if circumstances change.

Star Trek 4 will be directed by S. J. Clarkson, the first female director to helm the adventures of the Enterprise in theaters. A release date has not yet been announced.

According to IMDB, it's going to be Liam Neeson's final action movie.
He did action movies about battleships, airplanes, trains, tanks (the flying one in The A-Team, that is) and now snow plows. It's too bad he didn't fit in ones about semi-trucks, steamrollers or ice resurfacers.

Liam Neeson is... Gordon Ramsey.

When terrorists take over a posh London restaurant, only Ramsey and his knowledge of cutlery and boiling temperatures can save the day.

My most anticipated movie right now is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I just watched a 20 minute video someone shot on youtube of Hollywood Blvd. Quentin has blocked off a couple of streets and everything, I mean everything, has been made to look like it was in 1969. They even revived the famous Pussycat Theater. All the cars are old and there was even some video of Quentin wearing his usual Kangol and sitting on the camera seat.

Also of course the new Yorgos Lanthimos is very high on my list. One of my current favorite directors.

Emma Watson to Replace Emma Stone in Greta Gerwig's Little Women:

Article wrote:
Emma Watson is joining the cast of writer/director Greta Gerwig's Little Women film adaptation. The Harry Potter and Beauty and the Beast alum will take on the role that was previously intended for Emma Stone (who had to pass on the movie for as-yet unspecified scheduling issues).

The latest in a long line of screen adaptations of Louisa May Alcott's beloved tale (which was originally published in the late 1860s), Gerwig's Little Women is a traditional retelling that focuses on the experiences of the March sisters and their matriarch Marmee in post-Civil War Massachusetts. Gerwig will reunite with her Lady Bird stars Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet on the project, which has started to come together quickly since the filmmaker became formally attached to direct back in late June. Indeed, in the past month or so alone, Laura Dern (Big Little Lies) and Eliza Scanlen (Sharp Objects) have joined not only Ronan and Chalamet, but also Meryl Streep and Florence Pugh (Lady Macbeth) as members of the film's cast.

According to Variety, roles are still being worked out and it's not clear yet which of the March sisters will be played by Watson in Gerwig's take on Little Women. Stone was originally reported to be portraying Meg in the film, so it's quite possible that Watson will ultimately wind up playing that same role herself. As for the rest of the cast: Ronan was previously said to be playing Jo (the second oldest March sister after Meg and the story's protagonist), with Pugh playing Amy (the youngest March sister) and Scanlen portraying Beth, but all that could eventually change, it seems.

Mandy is f*ckin' awesome

My list would look like this:

Burning (will be released here next week, can't wait)
The World is Yours (is already released here, but without subtitles, so I need to wait for a blu-ray)
BlackKklansman
Suspiria
Widows
Shoplifters
Bad Times at El Royale
The Favorite
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
High Life
Apostle
If Beale Street Could Talk
Roma
Beautiful Boy (I'll admit, this is pure belgian chauvinism)

And I hope I will finally get a chance to see First Reformed, Sorry to Bother You, Eight Grade and Blindspotting. Neither of those got a a theatrical release in my country.
