Safe is one of those films I should have seen by this point. Time Bandits is good old fashioned fun.

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere.

From the Blu-ray.com forums
Quote:

•The Apu Trilogy (1955-1959, Satyajit Ray) will be released both theatrically and on DVD and Blu-ray in 2015.
•A Brighter Summer Day (1991, Edward Yang) is still in the works. The restoration and the extras are still being worked on.
•The Koker Trilogy (1987-1994, Abbas Kiarostami) is in the works.
•The Soft Skin (1964, François Truffaut) is coming soon.
•An artwork book of Criterion designs will be released on November 28, 2014.
•There will be more Warner Bros. titles in the future, with some titles potentially coming from Pre-Code Hollywood.
•There will be more Wes Anderson films in The Criterion Collection (Moonrise Kingdom (2012) seems to be the most likely title).
•There will be more Krzysztof Kieslowski films in The Criterion Collection (A restored version of Blind Chance was shown at Cannes 2014).
•There will be more David Lynch films in The Criterion Collection.
•There will be more Terrence Malick films in The Criterion Collection (The New World seems to be the most likely title as it coincidences with the announcement of future Warner Bros. titles).
•There will be more Pier Paolo Pasolini films in The Criterion Collection.
•There will be more Victor Erice films in The Criterion Collection.

I figured that since Wes Anderson has most of his movies already on Criterion that the rest would be added later on.

Satyricon might be one to get for me. My MGM World Films DVD has only one extra: the theatrical trailer. It is one weird film, and I'd like to see some features on how it was made. I bought a book about the film in 1970 when I started film school at university, but I didn't see the film until I bought the DVD in 2001.

Was not aware La ciénaga had been picked up by Criterion. Quite the achievement, considering Argentine cinema doesn't exactly have a broad presence in the company's library. Of course, Martel's debut was the likeliest candidate for admission, but it's great news nonetheless.

Post Re: The New Criterion Releases Thread (February 2015 update)

Ha ha! I'm editing video this afternoon, and it was neat to see that set-up.

I also have decided to get the Criterion release of Fellini Satyricon on Blu-ray, after I went to the Criterion site and read the extras. The 2001 World Films DVD I bought from MGM has these extras (you'd better sit down before you read this)
Original Theatrical Trialer
As you can understand that didn't keep me from buying the disc, but I really have wanted more over the years, and now Criterion is supplying:

Audio commentary featuring an adaptation of Eileen Lanouette Hughes’s memoir On the Set of “Fellini Satyricon”: A Behind-the-Scenes Diary
Ciao, Federico!, Gideon Bachmann’s hour-long documentary shot on the set of Fellini Satyricon
Archival interviews with director Federico Fellini
New interview with Rotunno
New documentary about Fellini’s adaptation of Petronius’s work, featuring interviews with classicists Luca Canali, a consultant on the film, and Joanna Paul
New interview with photographer Mary Ellen Mark about her experiences on the set and her iconic photographs of Fellini and his film
Felliniana, a presentation of Fellini Satyricon ephemera from the collection of Don Young
Trailer
New English subtitle translation
PLUS: An essay by film scholar Michael Wood

I can't help but chuckle at myself for reading "Archival interviews with director Federico Fellini" as "actual interviews," which made me wonder why such an insipid description; so upon second reading I discovered that I had misread the word!

Anyhow, that list has one or two more extras than the MGM release does.
