Post Dayz does a Favorite TV show thread.

Sadly this last 15 or so years have almost erased all my fond childhood memories of TV, so sadly this list will be top heavy with stuff from recent years. That said I am a firm believer in the last 15 years changing the way we view tv. It always use to be Film was the top medium for an actor/actress..and while that is still true today, I find that tv can be just as compelling if not more so then alot of the current out put in the film industry. I'm glad that the whole TV crowd is becoming a more series thing in the eyes of film/tv.

Remember this isn't a best or greatest list. Its my favorites according to me so don't be suprised to see things placed in crazy places.

First off shows that I haven't seen enough of or not at all that I feel would make my list if I would just sit down and watch more of.

Breaking Bad: I am 1 season and a few episodes into this show. Which is only something like maybe 9 episodes. I really enjoyed what I have seen so far but I feel like in order to rank it properly on the list without just sticking it somewhere on what I have seen, I need to watch more. I have S2 on my computer so hopefully I will take the time and catch up soon.

Mad Men: I have watched 1 Season, and parts of the second season. I Love what I have seen right now, and am not going to risk ranking it to low on the basis of me not seeing more. I feel like this show will find a place high up on my list when I finally get caught up. The show itself is just stunning to look at, and also makes two of the worst things for you fun and exciting in smoking and drinking.

The X-files: I have watched the first 3 seasons of this show. I own all 9 seasons of it and just feel like I can't include this show without have seeing more of it. The stuff I have seen I really enjoyed, and if I had to go with just the stuff I had seen it would be in my top 25 for sure. This is a work in progress and one day I will finish it all.

Fringe: S1 was really hit or miss for me, but towards the end it started to get rather interesting and got me hooked. Sadly due to work I have seen only a few episodes from S2. It reminds me so much of the X-files in a good way that I feel I need to watch more to place this show properly.

Sons of Anarchy I watched a lot of the first season of this show and just wasn't loving it. I am a huge ron Perlman fan so I was excited to find out he had a show. The only reason I'm mentioning this is because a lot of people I trust claim the second season is some of the best tv running right now. So I want to give this show another shot.

Modern Family. Reminds me of Arrested Development a bit and the episodes I have seen have been interesting and funny enough. I just need to see more.

The Batman I'm a huge Timm and Co animated fan..so when this show dropped I was really mad, because they changed the voice acting. I have seen the first season and it really isn't that bad. From what I have read the show keeps getting better and better. Its now in its 5th or 6th season and still going strong so I thought I would give it a watch.

Shows I haven't seen a single episode of that I want to watch:

Dr. Who
Twilight Zone

I remember liking it but I haven't watched it since I was a freshman in high school. Certainly an impressively prolific feat of screenwriting on Straczynski's part if nothing else.

I like to try new shows out even if they are random. This is one of those I caught one day and it was an instant win for me.
50.LEVERAGE
Image

I love con's. Part of me wishes it wasn't illegal to scam, steal, hustle, and down right defraud rich evil people that are abusing the lesser people like most of us. This show has all of the above in it. With a make shift cast of basically a bunch of B listers, with the most recognizable actor being Timothy Hutton. The great thing about this show is that it works as an episodic show but at the sametime if you watch it all in order there is a sense of an actual storyline that runs throughout the show. So it allows easy access to those interested in something new while keeping those that are commited to the show something to hold on to week in and week out. This show is by no means amazing, but is very light fun with a lot of humor and down right trickeration at time. Not on any Great/Epic lists of tv show, just fun lighthearted tv watching. I find this show easier to watch then Burn Notice which I haven't seen nearly enough of to put on my list yet.

Favorite character: Parker: The ackward jewel theft that isn't happy unless she is jumping off of something, climbing in or up into something, or cracking, lifting or stealing from high security galleries.

Ranking of the Seasons:

1. Season 2
2. Season 1

Top five favorite episodes:

1. The first, and Second David Jobs
2. The Juror #6 Job
3. The Two Live Crew Job
4. Miracle Job
5. The three Strikes Job.

TAS Hottie Factor for watching the show:
1. Beth Riesgraf (think of mac all grown up)
2. Jeri Ryan (yes she is still alive and kicking.

Office would be number 1 on mine but that's just me. I think I might be the only person here to have it at number 1.

Looking forward to number 49.

49.DIRTY SEXY MONEY
Image

I have a soft spot for trashy, sleezy shows about the rich and powerful. This show basically takes all the different persona's we see in the news today about the rich. The show didn't run long and got canceled without much of a conclusion. But if I didn't enjoy all the scandels and twists and turns these characters gave me for its short lived run. The big names in the show that people will recognize are Donald Sutherland as the father of the Darlings. Peter Krause as the lawyer and main character in the show. Also has a lot of guest staring roles by people you know of, Blair Underwood, Lucy liu to name a few. This show is not great tv, and is basically like watching the inside of the brain of Perez Hilton. But boy am I a sucker for the rich, boobs, and a decent enough who done it with deception and backstabing at every instant. Did I mention there was a lesser Baldwin in this that is obsessed and in love with a real life transvestite?

Favorite character: Brian Darling: The hotheaded, cheating Priest of the family. More times then not he would rather steal something, or pay someone for something to go away. He just butted heads so well with the main character, and pretty much everyone on the show.

Ranking of the Seasons:

1. Season 1
2. Season 2

Top five favorite episodes:

1. The Facts
2. The Plan
3. The Summerhouse
4. The Nutcracker
5. The Bad Guy

TAS Hottie Factor for watching the show:
1. Natalie Zea
2. Zoe McLellan
3. Lucy Liu
4. Samaire Armstrong

I think it started actually going places in S2..S1 it felt like it was just rolling with the same ideas. When we lose the most annoying darling to travel the show gets better. But your right its not great tv, I couldn't justify it that even if I wanted..but none the less I couldn't stop watching it.

48.FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS

Singing New Zealanders? A loyal bewildered agent. One fan that is pretty much TAS in a female body. Yes Mel would totally lock up both guys in her closet and play dungeon master with them. And we are talking the fun role playing game with dice. This show is just great light fun. I thought the second season was a little to inconsistant to rank this show higher on this list, but for the concept and the songs alone it warrents a place on this list. I'm glad that these guys got to make a show even if it was for such a brief time. The Bear should be damn proud of these two, and or hate them for a terrible translation of New Zealand.

Favorite character: Murray Hewitt: As ackward as Micheal Scott, but 10x more awesome. His role call at every band meeting was classic.
Ranking of the Seasons:

1. Season 1
2. Season 2

Top five favorite episodes:

1. The New Cup
2. Drive By

4. Unnatural Love
5. The Actor

47.TERMINATOR THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES
Image

Sloppy first season aside this show turned out to be a very pleasing and great homage to the terminator movies we actually love. This show is 100x better then that drival of a movie that was released last year. A lot more interesting take on the whole situation. Also a great look at the character of Sarah without being exposed to to much arnold. I have had this conversation with a few people actually, and think that lena Headey is the best version of Sarah to be put on either medium. She just brings great life to that character. The second season has a great run of good to great episodes that any fan of terminator would enjoy. Also we replace naked arnold with naked Summer Glau which is always a perk. Its sad they didn't get a shot at a third season because the set up in the finale, which works well enough for a conclusion would have been fantastic stuff.

Favorite character: Cameron Phillips: Hot robot that kicks ass? who wouldn't list her as their favorite. (there is a scene where she is mimicing ballot that is just fantastic..which then makes me think of her guest spot in Angel which makes me think about Firefly which makes me hate Fox even more.
Ranking of the Seasons:

1. Season 2
2. Season 1

Top five favorite episodes:

1. Born to Run
2. Allison from Palmdale
3. Samson & Delilah
4. Self Made Man
5. Dungeons & Dragons

TAS Hottie Factor for watching the show:
1. Summer Glau
2. Lena headey
3. Shirley Manson
4. Stephanie Jacobsen

I don't blame them for Dollhouse, that was kind of a mercy killing. Not one of Joss' best ideas. And when I say that I mean 'his' idea to cast Eliza in the lead and focus the show on her.

This is a show I can't truly put my finger on. It is just one of those shows that is so colorful, with a perfect cast that just works. I felt good after watching this show, I could be in a terrible mood and this show would just pick me up. Sadly it didn't get enough love because people suck at life and thought the 13th different bastard child of CSI was more important then it. But damn it was it great while it lasted. I actually kept myself from watching the final few episodes so that I could save them for a rainy day when I feel blue. Lee Pace is the man and the two female leads are adorable.

Favorite character: Emerson Cod: Um smooth talking PI? awesome.

Ranking of the Seasons:

Both seasons are awesome.

Top five favorite episodes:

1. Bitches
2. Pie-lette
3. Dummy
4. Bzzzzzzzzz!
5. Girth

Still need to finish the season.

TAS Hottie Factor for watching the show:
1. Kristin Chenoweth
2. Anna Friel
