So AM2R was well worth a playthrough. Give it a shot if you can still find it.

Aside from a couple of balls out ridiculous boss fights... some of those were insane... it's an amazing Metroid. I'll have to play through Fusion again to see if it tops that

That was one thing I really admired about it: it regularly kicked my ass and was totally unforgiving in that regard. A real hardcore experience, and a challenge even for veterans.

I think my favorite fight is that Chozo who turns into a flyer for it's second form... I can't remember any 2D boss battle being that intense. The music in particular managed to work on my anxiety, such sweaty palms. I'd have to play some Gunstar Heroes again but I think that could very well be a Top 10 boss fight in my lifetime.

DSS on RT argued strongly that the original Metroid 2 for Game Boy is the best of the series. I will argue that Fusion is the best flowing game in the series. Best bosses too.

I downloaded the remake. I'll give it a play soon.

I need more Metroid. It's been a while since I played through Zero Mission. I'll likely do Zero, AM2R again, Super Metroid, and Fusion. I'd love to find a Game Boy cart of Metroid 2 now that I have a fresh fatty sitting around

What's everyone's thoughts on the Castlevanias? My rankings would go - Aria of Sorrow > Symphony of the Night > Dawn of Sorrow > Circle of the Moon > Harmony of Dissonance. I adore all of them, they all rank close.

someone give me a yes/no on the new deus ex when they've had some time with it, if it's worth picking up full price or just waiting on whatever steam sale/deep discount comes first.

What deus ex is doing very right and very wrong seems to be readily apparent in the first hour of play, the game plays well, but the UI is pretty bad so far, or I'm not used to it at all... changing a weapon is way more of a process than it should be. I should edit this to mention that this basically only applies to menus, the menus feel a bit archaic in terms of layout and use.

I Watch Films, But...
In a word, I think that, far from favoring directors’ formal inventiveness, widescreen, instead, stifles it. It is, I’m more and more persuaded, if not the only, at least the main culprit for the expressive poverty of the image today. - Eric Rohmer

Did anyone here try out No Man's Sky in the end?

I know many initial impressions have been torrid - for pretty much all the reasons I thought the game might fail, like, two years ago. But I'm interested in knowing if anyone here gave it a whirl.

Heyo!

At this point, I haven't paid money for it, and it is not worth what they are asking for it. It is a prime example of a game to buy a year down the line on sale, and the August sales reports have it beating Madden 17 so the developers are likely working on the free content updates, such as base building (this will be huge for the game).

At the state it is in it reminds me of Minecraft in the early stages. They are selling the concept of the engine and are working on filling it with game play ideas to utilize with it...

...that fucking engine, yo. Okay, seriously, I get the criticisms but, ugh, UGH, PEOPLE! This is a mindblowing, mindbreaking game! That there is even a functional game on top of what exactly it is doing is ridiculous, and the game itself is gorgeous, like, gorgeous gorgeous. My brain does backflips playing it, I have never done this cool of stuff in a video game. It makes jet packing up a rock infinitely more exciting than blowing down a hoard of demons because it's just so new. You have never done this before, you have always dreamed of doing it, and it is doing a stellar job at letting you live that dream.

They already patched up the majority of performance issues so, I dunno, it feels like the game it should be at this time. It might just be clearly thought of as one of the absolute best games in a year time, and it will certainly be remembered as one of the few most important video games ever made. It kinds transcends a lot of my objectivity on account of how awe inspiring it is. It overwhelmed my forgiveness function. It overwhelms. I feel kinda bad about the people who paid full price for it :shifty:

I just completely ignore that one. That game doesn't exist until I have 1000 clear hours and a galaxy of drugs at my disposal.
