Funny you guys should be talking King in here, since I just started The Outsider today; anyone else read it yet?

The Drawing Of The Three is my 2nd favorite Dark Tower entry, but nothing beats Wizard & Glass for me... nothing, Hell, even if I ranked it against every single other book King's written outside that series, it'd still be #1 for me; it just had that big an impact on me, y'know?

True, and like I said, Drawing is my runner-up favorite from that series, so it's not that big a difference an opinion, I admit.

To list my top 10 King books I'd need to go by my feelings towards them when I first read them

1) It
2) The Stand
3) Night Shift
4) The Shining
5) Salem's Lot
6) The Dead Zone
7) Pet Semetary
8) Misery
9) Christine
10) Skeleton Crew

I actually never read all of Skeleton Crew (skipped the Mist for some unknown reason) but because I generally prefer his shorter work, I chose it over the universally maligned Tommyknockers and Thinner which were next in line.

Didn't include danse macabre or on writing, cuz non fiction, but they are both very good

:fresh:

Agreed on his short work (ironic given the length of some of the books on my list).

If you're curious, someone uploaded the early-attempted 3D "radio play" version of The Mist with William Sadler as the hero. I listened to it the other day while doing some busywork, and it's solid in spite of some awkward descriptive dialogue ("Dear God, it's flying around the supermarket!" etc.

I should def check that out. I should also reread his collections since I feel they have aged the best and his writing is at its most succinct and least annoying then.

I also realized Different Seasons should have prob been in my top 5, but because of my endless shunning of Shawshank, I pushed the whole collection away. Even if I actually liked that story in the book, and loved the other two (I barely recall The Breathing Method)

Also, now that it is far too late for me to properly ever appreciate it, it bothers me that The Dark Tower is the only thing I never read from his early years (well, that and the Talisman, but does anyone care about that one?)

My guess is you'd prefer the first couple TDT novels over the final ones (I don't wanna speak for you, obviously). Esp. the original version of The Gunslinger and not his later revision that tries to better connect to the whole series. That original book's a lean little sonofabitch.

I don't think many care about The Talisman. The Eyes of the Dragon is a better (and tighter, go figure) youth-oriented adventure fantasy.

Also one of my favorite bands. They'd probably fill my entire top ten if I made one, give or take some of Moonspell's heavier songs and Tiamat songs. Off the top of my head, Love You to Death, Everything Dies and Anesthesia would be on it.
I just realized I made a hilarious typo and typed Sisters of Murphy instead of Sisters of Mercy! Hopefully, Mr. Eldritch doesn't post here.

"Anesthesia" is my favorite track off of Life Is Killing Me (with "Nettie" coming in as runner-up), but if I had to chose one favorite song off of each TON record, I'd go with (the aforementioned) "Black No. 1" (with either "Set Me On Fire" or "Christian Woman" as runner-up), "Be My Druidess" off October Rust, "All Hallows Eve", and "Halloween In Heaven".
Yes, I'm a mod; let me know if you need anything.

Good lists, but no Super Mario World for the SNES one? :shifty:
The second the cape arrives, you can skip the platforming in the a majority of the stages and just coast through. It's stunning in its oversight. Imagine having access to the P-wing in 60% of SMB3's levels. Damn near game-breaking.

Excellent otherwise, but that is such a mind-boggling choice to me. They needed to rethink the cape mechanics.

      NES

      Ninja Gaiden
      Journey to Silius
      Batman
      Jackal
      Mike Tyson's Punch Out

      Genesis

      Revenge of Shinobi
      Sonic the Hedgehog
      Alien Soldier
      Elemental Master
      Castlevania Bloodlines

      SNES

      Wild Guns
      Axelay
      Star Fox
      Donkey Kong Country 3
      Hagane

Super Mario World isn't even half the game Super Mario Bros. 3 is.

I guess JRPG's aren't popular around these parts. Here is my SNES top 5:

      Chrono Trigger
      Final Fantasy VI
      Super Castlevania IV
      Super Metroid
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
      Last Great Movie Seen

I've always had trouble with RPGs. The combination of random battles and turn-based combat and scroll-clicking through all the text boxes wore me out when I was young, and now that I'm older, my gametime has been reduced greatly (it's hard to even do a Zelda).
