Big screen retrospective! Been to see most of his films on 35mm. Had to miss a couple due to bouts of illness.

I was so disappointed by Arsenic and Old Lace, it felt like a collection of zany scenes, not a coherent movie. And I love Capra, Lorre, and especially Grant. All the Roosevelt stuff is really lame, as is the central romance, and it drags quite a bit, not even benefitting from the fact that I saw it on the big screen.

I saw five times the number I usually see! Best of October*:
  • Santa Sangre
    Toute une nuit
    Cemetary Man
    Maqbool
    Ganja & Hess
    Eraserhead
    Golden Eighties
    Vinyan
    Vampire’s Kiss
The Earth is a Sinful Song

*I know this list is strangely lacking in Macbeth adaptations, but I watched the Polanski and Welles in September, and Throne of Blood and Scotland, Pa. were re-watches. That leaves 5 Macbeths seen this month, and of those, Maqbool was my favorite by far. The opera one just missed the cut.

Assuming I ever watch movies again, what is must-see for 2015? My most anticipated, so far (and, yes, a lot of these are 2014):

Anomalisa
Arabian Nights: Volume 1
Chi-raq
Clouds of Sils Maria
Court
The Duke of Burgundy
Eden
The Forbidden Room
Girlhood
Heart of a Dog
Horse Money
Jauja
Lost River
Macbeth
Mad Max: Fury Road
Phoenix
A Pigeon Sat on a Branch...
Predestination
Room
Sicario
Spring
Tangerine
Tokyo Tribe
Victoria
The Wonders

Only seen Pigeon, Sicario, Mad Max, and Duke of Burgundy from these, I think the last one is the best/most interesting, but I'd recommend any of them on some level.
Ehrlich's video is super-cool as usual, but I don't get the love for Kumiko, like, at all. Mistress America, though,
