I liked how the two millennial protagonists ended the movie with good, fulfilling jobs.

It was a cut above your typical kids affair for sure, and by far the best video game movie. That Goosebumps guy knows what he's doing, the direction was strong throughout. The script was energetic and the jokes land, there were lots of nuggets for us 90s Pokemon fans. Ryan Reynolds brings his A game, his Pikachu > Deadpool. The movie got maybe a bit too sappy at times and I guessed the twist halfway through but w/e, it's so much fun and there are so many good sequences. That Torterra sequence was better than anything in Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Strong 8/10
I really liked KOTM but the Pokemon movie was better. Reynolds cracked me up the entire movie. And yeah the twist was made obvious, but I didn't care.

So today I got yelled at by my stepfather. He called me a worthless nothing and told me he didn't want me to be in "his" house. How he is going to kick me out. I've only been living with him for four days and we're already at this point. It's not the first time he yelled at me for no reason, starts calling me names. My mom married him anyway.

Sorry to get so personal but it is all a bit too much for me.

She says she feels sorry that I have to live like this. I'm not sure she would ever leave him though. She told me to stay at my father's place for the weekend.
We've been in this situation before. He treats me and my sister terribly, she breaks up with him and the next day they are back together. Only now, they're married and have bought a house together

Still alive! Still working insurance claims but now for Liberty Mutual!

I did see Endgame. I really enjoyed it and I thought it was a good end to this... phase? It wasn't perfect and I'm not sure how I feel about Cap's ending but overall I liked it. The new Spiderman was good too!

Spider-Verse rocks, and it’s written by one half of the near flawless Miller/Lord duo!

Seeing Double Dragon in a theatre surrounded by people was a blast. When it got that Abobo scene I leaned over to my friend to tell him that was our secret film club’s banner image.

JOHN WICK 3 was pretty good, not on the level of 1/2, but as far as third entries are concerned it didn’t shit the bed

Spider-Man was a ton of fun, they handled Mysterio in flaw free manner. Surprisingly trippy movie. Those end credit sequences were bangers.

And then in an absolutely perfect Toronto sports moment their superstar bailed two weeks later and they are back to square one. I watched a shit load of basketball this year and it was pretty damn magical, unlike those stupid blue jays and that stupid neckbeard who ruined it all in Kansas City ... 4 years ago? Time flies.

Srsly though, Chicago. Wherever the fuck you are in Ontario you gotta be closer than the 26 hour drive I am.

Don’t think I’ve popped for anything harder in a theatre than Simmons coming back as Alex Jones Jameson

Really really dug Mysterio as a villain, using all the intergalactic absurdity of the snap/blip to get people to believe his cover story was a clever angle. MCU Spider-Man is now 2 for 2 on pulling off solid antagonists

The past 6 or so months our beer inventory at work as EXPLODED and that’s almost entirely on the backs of local craft products with a few odds & ends coming from Iowa, Michigan, and Ontario. It’s been delightful getting to broach out and sample as much as possible. What did you smuggle?

Life is pretty good, work is going really well for me, home life has been a nightmarish saga with two of the worst roommates you could ever imagine. One’s gone forever, and the other is a bad slasher movie villain who won’t stop coming back. Gonna be moving in with some old comedy friends soon tho!

How’s life in Canada? Have you seen the Deadwood movie yet, because that’s a thing?

Craft beer is fucking ridiculous. We have 100 fucking breweries in Alberta, a province of 3 million people, that's like having 150 breweries just in the great city of Chicago! It's gotta be unsustainable.

I brought back (illegally) Makers Mark cask strength bourbon, Old Forrester bottled in bond bourbon, Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon, John D Taylor Velvet Falernum (it's sort of an allspice flavored low alcohol liquer that is called for in a million tiki drinks) and Lillet Rouge (which is a more raspberryish wine appertif so in the sweet vermouth family). I also hit the duty free on the way back for some distraction booze to legally claim and got two fucking liters of Jameson for 30 american, that's like a hundred bucks worth of whiskey in Canada. All the stuff I snuck across you can't fin in Canada, which is very annoying since we have gotten crazy into cocktails and mixology the last couple years. It's like owning a nonprofit bar basically, but we do get to throw awesome parties.

Thankfully everyone in comedy is well adjusted, so I am sure it will all go well.

The brewery explosion is HUGE here too, and we’ve got a crapload that finally started canning so they’re all knocking on our door with samples seeing if we’ll carry them. Other big explosion is in canned premade cocktails, feels like we’ve got 3-4 new brands popping up every other week.

That’s a fucking good booze haul you managed to smuggle, we carry everything but the John Taylor, I’ll have to ask my boss to look into that. Mixology is something I’ve been really itching to get into, but most of my booze money has been invested into beer to help me up my sales game, but I’ve gotta branch out eventually. There’s this super unassuming nerdy looking guy in the city named Charlie who buys barrels of vodka and steeps then with various fruits, herbs, and spices into a liqueur line that is fantastic for cocktails. I’ll have to ship you a bottle sometime.

Thankfully the comic in question is one of the stable ones (fucking hysterical too) and as long as they don’t try to murder me/have me talk them out of suicide multiple times it’ll be a welcome change.

Heh, I saw The Cult in concert a couple months ago. Ian Astbury is an odd bird. He asks strange questions to the audience like "are there any Canadians out there?" at random and he has the annoying habit of singing the lyrics at the wrong times. His manager probably hates the guy because he manages to destroy a tambourine every show.
The band still has it, though. Billy Duffy is such a great guitarist.
