Is life not going well for you lately? Personally, work's been getting a bit more relaxed for me lately, but things at home aren't as good, seeing as how my supposedly new water heater's messed up (so I've had to take cold showers for the past week), plus the air conditioner won't cool the apartment either, and THEN the fucking chain on my ceiling fan snapped off so I can't even adjust that now either; hopefully, though, I can get the repair guy in here tomorrow morning to at least fix some of this shit, and at least I had a great time tonight rewatching Arrival (and beginning my review of it), so I just gotta try to focus on the good things for the time being, I feel.

So this weekend I'm going to Chicago because my sister has an interview at a medical school there.

My only goal is to eat pizza and drink beer.

That's a good movie, I cried at that movie. I'm super stressed out Smalley, I'm super stressed out! On the other hand this producer might be optioning my movie screenplay after I do some changes, so that's interesting. I hope your water heater works.

Thanks Trenchcoat. I'm a bit nervous since I'm not 100% sure I like all the changes, plus there's no guarantee it'll be optioned, plus I'm not clear how much money I'd get if it was. Still, even a small amount would be nice right now since I'm in the process of moving. And it would be cool to say I had a script optioned. Mostly I'm hoping I could use it to get a manager.

Are you still writing?

Not too much screenwriting. My website www.danielwastesyourtime.com is my creative outlet at this point. And that comes and goes. But it's nice having something that is just mine. And depending on the size of the idea/joke, I can finish an article pretty damn fast. I'll still probably write a tv spec a year for the Nickelodeon and Warmers writing programs, out of habit/enjoyment.
I know I've mentioned them before but Scriptnotes has a bunch of episodes that deal with Producer notes and changes. They're definitely speaking from the pov of established writers but it might be helpful.

Don’t know what season you’re on, but the last two seasons have had a handful of classics. “Hero or Hate Crime?” From Season 12 is a banger, and the season 13 finale is a work of ART.

Oh and congrats on the screenplay.

I'm amazed how long the show has been running. I guess it must be cheap to make.

Netflix would've cancelled it after two seasons, and then taken New Girl of Netflix Canada.

They’ve gotta have a pretty sizable budget considering they gotta pay for Devito and the cast is gradually getting more mainstream work.

I wanna say 8/9 aren’t the best seasons, but still have some good/great episodes and the show gets brilliant again S10-onward.

That was a fun reveal. I also liked that episode because it featured the Waitress, who was on New Girl, back when it was available on Netflix Canada.

I'm watching the newest season now after binge watching it and to be honest, I didn't notice any real drop in quality. I have it on my background playlist that I turn on while I do other stuff and I never think, like, "Oh, this a later season episode, better skip!" like I do with some shows. And skimming through the seasons now, every season has some really strong episodes.

Also, congrats on the screenplay! I'm super proud of you! If this one doesn't work out, it won't be long before something does. Just don't forget us when you're big and famous and own, like, 10 yachts.

Also, I loved the weirdly wholesome ending of the very Seinfeld one where they're eating out

So, in S5 of Gilmore Girls, they devoted an entire episode to Jackson ousting Taylor as town selectman. Jackson spent a couple episode complaining about selectman duties. Then S6 happened and Taylor is back as selectman and no one mentions it ever again. Still dope ass tv.

If you want something that won’t make fun of New Girl, Spiderverse is so pro New Girl that they made Nick Miller a Spider-Man.
