Well, we had a real slow stretch a couple of years ago, but it (and me) have been here the whole time, and the final, shameful demise of the RT forums got us some new users in the process, so that worked out for us, I guess you could say; how've you been lately, anyway?

Oh I'm fine. Went to TIFF. it was alright. I was rather dismayed when I really enjoyed Lucy in the Sky at TIFF and reviewed it well and then I looked at Metacritic and it was horrible lol.

What was so terrible about RTs demise?

Well, it was terrible that they just pulled the plug without warning us, and without giving us a chance to, say, share the link to the Corrie (or anywhere else) so we could make sure that we'd all stay in touch. The actual demise of that bug-riddled hellhole itself was obviously no big deal :)

Sucks. There's a few programs out there you can use to download entire web pages... I would have used it on a few choice threads if I knew they were nuking the site from orbit.

It's been rough. I had a small discord channel with my close friends and I cocked it up big time while quote unquote quitting smoking. I had a rant about Destiny 2, friend didn't like it, went in on me, I told him to shut up, and hell hath no fury. Then my other friend leaves the discord and removes me from Steam, etc. Basically went from a few good friends to 0 in one fell swoop. This one goes both ways, he shoulda known better that I was having a moment (I was communicating that I was quitting smoking) and I wasn't hurting anyone by ranting about Destiny 2. Now it's like wtf, I have no one close to talk to aside from my parents. As far as anger and such is concerned I've been doing very well but as always it's not enough, I've lost so much because of it and it's like the world is constantly communicating to me that the only choice is isolation... which is bullshit and I don't like it, I just need change in a serious way. Thinking about school again and whatnot. I feel like my anger stems from people altogether knowing my situation too well and thus knowing how to push my buttons, but that's an unhealthy thought because people are going to push my buttons no matter what. It's just over time they've been pressed so much that my reaction is kinda broken, I need some reprogramming. Which is a tall order because one of the common symptoms of brain injury is anger and confusion, it's kinda just a reality of mine... that being said I can't just go about lashing out at people, and I won't be able to thrive in a school or work environment without getting this stuff figured out hence being on disability. It's just a rough situation all around, I feel like I've tapped Victoria's resources as far as managing this is concerned so who friggin knows
Have you considered moving or is that not viable for you? I relate to a lot of this, and I'm getting out of here so I can make a fresh go of it. (I probably won't make a fresh go of it and will just do the same thing in a different city, lol I'm doomed.)

I think moving is viable down the line, I have to figure out this smoking business one way or another or lol I'm actually doomed. I am moving back into my parent's house in five months, basement suite... this downtown lifestyle is eating me alive, I have no space to store food in this suite and cooking is thus impossible so the amount of takeout and mcdonalds swimming around in my system is monstrous. I think moving back into the house will be a positive for the time being. Moving within Canada is tough, I feel like I'll probably end up moving up the island if anything. I've considered spots on Saltspring Island but they are few and far between, plus I realistically need a vehicle which I'm working on. Good luck on your fresh go, I strongly believe we are products of our environment and maybe that change will inspire something new in you. This is a big transitional year, I'm 30 next year and something's gotta give, I must mature

It took six friggin' days but I trudged through Infinite Jest and now I finally know what Obscure had been on about.

Edit: Much like 1Q84, I feel as if the book climaxed about 2/3 of the way through and everything else was either denouement or it went unresolved.

Flights were cheap, figured I’d go exploring for Halloween and maybe take a 12 hour stroll through Glacier park.

Make no mistake, this is my cat's apartment. I just pay the rent.

I think I've found a gig that could score me some extra cash.

The Magnus Archives (podcast) might be my favorite horror thing of the last however many years. It's a big ambitious weird fiction universe composed almost entirely of perfect little individual horror short stories. I didn't know you could have podcasts that weren't just two idiots misremembering commonly known facts about history, science, etc. Yes, the only other podcast I listen to is My Favorite Murder, how did you know?

The Dollop is comedians Dave Anthony and Garett Reynolds (Reynolds is hilarious) Anthony reads Reynolds a story out of America history. Informative and fucking hysterical.

Behind the Bastards is a similar ordeal, but the host has rotating guests, and focuses more on specific individuals (with some exceptions like discussing Union Carbide destroying Bophal) the guests help bring levity to the subject matter

I miss it too sometimes. If you're looking for a new forum, I mostly like the Resetera forums. They're larger and more impersonal but still pretty fun. And they wouldn't tolerate any of Harry's proto altright bullshit.
