That there most certainly are, and unsure if my liver can handle trying them all :-/

Did look up that one you mentioned last time we talked beer and sadly it’s not being distributed in Massachusetts yet.

100. The Big Sick

Image

I don't know, it's kinda sweet, kinda sad, kinda funny. kinda good. You can tell it's based on something that actually happened cause the characters are always surprising you, but you can also tell it got a good script writing once over cause they aren't surprising you in annoying or stupid ways like people do in real life. Also, Ray Romano, being funny and good, who would have seen that coming?

Also, I have hotlinked that image, I haven't done that in years, I wonder if it is still a big no no, we will soon find out.

99. Sing Street

I like New Wave, I sort of sometimes like coming of age stories, I also sort of sometimes like stories about a bunch of losers getting together to make something better of themselves. So I sort of like most of what this movie is putting down, it's not overly sentimental or saccharine either, it hits a nice baseline. Also, as an official old person, I like the way his parents are shit, cause of course they have to be shit it's a movie about an irish musician, but they are shit in a real people way, not fucking Harry Potter's adoptive parents kind of way.

The ending is fucking stupid as all hell though, thankfully everything up to that point is sweet wholesome fun.

It is one of those "screamy" horrors, see also the Babadook which will not be on my list cause good god just make that kid shit the fuck up, but it's still pretty good. Good atmosphere, great committed performance from Toni Collette, some twists and turns you don't see coming in addition to the ones you do. Overall, a good little nasty slice of horror, maybe not the #OMGSCARIESTMOVEEVER, but it's working on a good wavelength.

Well, I felt the first half of it had some creepy potential, but then it went way off the deep end and never looked back, with its mismash of genre cliches and obnoxious, relentless hysterics, and became the most unintentionally comedic "Horror" movie I've seen since the Nicholas Cage Wicker Man, to be honest.

Keep up the list, though :shifty:

It's just a really good movie. You got that traditional tragedy arc, an about to burst into full on fucking movie star Michael B. Jordan showing why he is about to be a full on fucking movie star, some good themes about nerd rage and nice guy bullshit toxicity, and a full on superman v.s general zod fight that I feeling confident saying is better than anything in the DC movies, which I haven't seen. I honestly don't even remember the found footage conceit when I think of it in my mind, so that's a good thing I guess? I wonder who actually ghost wrote this thing for our ole buddy Max?

95. Sliver Linings Playbook

I mean, this movie really is kind of dumb, but it is earnestly dumb that I can't help but buy in. I also saw this when Insipid and I were in the earlyish throes of our relationship and I just really felt it, "hey, a couple fucked up people figuring out how to fall in love and be a bit less fucked up together, this speaks to me for some reason". All the football betting dance contest malarkey is definite malarkey, but hey it also gave the movie something other than just people and their feelings which is just the fucking worst, so I can dig it. It's pretty accurate in regard to the insanity of football fandom, and I can't speak to the accuracy of the dance contest stuff (I have my doubts though), but it is well filmed and fun, as male gazey as it is, did we have this term back in those days? Also, there are definitely some choice Jlaw gifs from this that I got many years of enjoyment of trolling Obscure with, and if that ain't worth being the 95th best movie I saw in the last ten years, what is?

THIS REVIEW IS VAGUELY SPOILERISH

I'm not even sure if I really liked it that much. A lot of iconography for the point of ... iconography, which, sure, better than nothing I guess. I've never been big on movies where there's all this toying between the bad guys and their victims, and then you see them ruthlessly dispatch these other people without all the fuss and muss, y'know? Anyways.

On like a moment to moment basis, it's a good movie, more thriller than horror, got some ideas, well shot, acted etc. It's the perfect 90% on rotten tomatoes, and yet, is there anything really there, except an easily guessed twist?
