I saw a couple minutes of a game last night. I am literally averaging 140 hours every two weeks, and I am having a late 30s obsession with axis and allies, so I have no goddamn time. Maybe in a month I can get a week off if the stars align.

The Shallows was pretty good. Saw that one in a crowded movie theater back when those still existed.

B-ball playoffs!

Evil, I hope you get to watch some of these games. Shame there’s so many afternoon ones but I assume once we sweep Brooklyn there will be mostly night ones...

It's like... a twerking competition for little girls: the Netflix movie..? I'm so confused by it's existence, 4chan has banned people from posting images of the movie lmao

It's a French movie and from what I understand the director is a Black woman who tried to talk about her own experience of being sexualized as a young girl and as an immigrant in a white society, and then Netflix slapped a completely innapropriate poster on it and now she is getting canceled and receiving death threats. I haven't seen the movie yet (I don't even think it is coming to Belgian Netflix) but neither have the people starting online campaigns, and who knows, maybe the movie completely misses the mark and it really is just gross, but I prefer giving people the benefit of the doubt and watching it first before judging.

You think anyone is going to watch this? Like, people are going to feel like they are being put on a watch list. This could get 99% on RT with a 9.9/10 avg and it will still be a trap. I don't think there is a proper way you can market this movie but Netflix took the absolute worst route

Post-rock bands actively compete with Fiona Apple for pretentious naming of stuff. Better than !!! or ††† or The The, I suppose.

To add onto those, I'd like to try again to recommend Scurezles at least one song off of Ashes Against The Grain, since, even though it's as not full on "Post" as Isis, it is my favorite record from teh 'llogh, and I did have some measure of success in rec'ing it to DJ back in the day, so I figured it'd be worth another shot:

When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks Like a King What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight and He'll Win the Whole Thing 'fore He Enters the Ring There's No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand and Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights and If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where to Land and If You Fall It Won't Matter, Cuz You'll Know That You're Right

Pretentious is a pretty overused word and I don't know exactly what Rkod meant, but it's certainly an overly elaborate and a somewhat annoying title. Doesn't mean the music isn't good.

My idea of "Pretentious" band names and such are, like, "Neutral Milk Hotel". I used to make fun of them a lot, never listened to Aeroplane Over the Sea until I tried last year (read: a few months ago maybe?) and laughed my ass off at how bad it was and it's folk punk story of Jesus or whatever. Good story, Nameless!

I guess it yields a lot of "cultural significance", in other words I see it meme'd a lot. Like, who hasn't seen that album cover? But, the band just had to be called "Neutral Milk Hotel" and the opening few tracks to Aeroplane really made me feel that fact. Folk-punk is the worst!

It's worth noting that my area is folk-punk haven so, like, everyone sounds like Neutral Milk Hotel

I thought Aeroplane Over the Sea was awesome. Sorry about your friend Nameless.

Pretentious is a fun word to use but yeah it's overused in criticism and is often applied to way too many things. I do like how the word rolls off the tongue. Makes one feel important when they use a word that has weight and feel, so people abuse it to feel smart.
