Where would we be without social commentary?

Given the state of RT, the same place as with it. But I enjoyed splashing around in the absurdity of it all. I don't wish for this place to become equally as absurd.

I was deleting my thread subscriptions at RT yesterday. I did this because I don't like having an e-mail regarding a thread I posted in two years ago suddenly popping up in my inbox. I don't like this occurring because it feeds the addiction.
Anyhow, while deleting subscriptions, I encountered a bunch of names I hadn't seen in a while. Some I miss, some I don't:
Mariah Carey kuddles Ectothermal Puppy David Noodles (who is also Harry Caul)
Manythings juss (and Lucy) altgodkub number8 gusvitriol Buffaluffasaurus
odionevol LazloKriezler Dave H. SciFi-ActionMan ARileyL The Mighty Dingus
Dade Devlin Aunt Blabby Aragorn Exley The Th?rd Man Helen Wheels
jennigirl Zerkalo Richard Sagawa Charlemagne BigSpeegs Shakira Returns
Redfoot Sooriyakumaran Aurens Movies R Me joeyjoejoeshabadoo Shotokan

Most of those posters don't patronize RT anymore and though some were trolls at least they were pleasant trolls who were also funny rather than mean-spirited ones who thought they were funny. The others were usually interesting, knowledgeable, and articulate in discussing film, which is the reason I signed up there to begin with. Of course, things change. They always do.

Since we're on the topic anyway, what is the deal with women not wanting to jump my bones? I mean, I saw that documentary where they wanted to jump Dane Cook's bones, so why not mine? Is it because I don't guarantee marriage, which is really what every woman wants?

Also, RT was misogynistic. I can say this because, despite the large number of prominent gays and females on the board, there never was a thread dragging a male actor's looks through the mud like there was for Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Love Hewitt etc. There never was any "Steve Buscemi makes my vag extra dry/dick recede inside me" threads in the whole time I was on RT. Male actors were always criticised for heir acting skills or lack thereof, whereas female actors were the only ones who were deemed unsuitable for a role because they were ugly.
I mean, sheesh, someone said Eva Green should've been Dawes because she has better breasts than Maggie Gyllenhaal. Nobody ever said Clive Owen should be Batman because he's got a more chiseled jaw than Christian Bale. That indicates bias, no matter how you spin it.

Unless Heino is Batman, of course, which is plausible.

Mega threads made me the poster I am today, for better or worse. That and a short stint in OT, followed by lack of posting, then bookended by me fully posting again. Now I hardly go to the site, due to its technical problems. I'll still post there if I actually can, despite another mass poster exodus.

I'm still unsure of what exactly happened to RT. Did it experience a meltdown of unprecedented proportions, or was it simply the cumulative effect of continuous bugs and internal server errors that drove people here?

It's strange seeing the same site now looking so soulless without the influence of interesting individuals.
