LeBron might be giving us the best finals performance of all time. This guy is unbelievable.

I don't think the Warriors have played that poorly over a three-game stretch all season. I still think they win this series, but yeah, LeBron's been lights out.

Toews-bot got his third cup. Hopefully he spends one full day savoring this before the gaping emptiness inside him sends him back to the rink to try and get better.

Jordan got his ass kicked by the Pistons in the 80s. People have short memories. Also LeBron is still the only non Celtic to play in five straight NBA Finals. The Warriors had the better and actually healthy team. We'll see if they even make it back next year considering the Western Conference is ridiculous.

PS: Magic is regarded as one of the best. He was swept in an NBA Finals. Not everyone can be Jordan or Duncan or Bill Russell.

Also the level of competition varies from decade to decade. The Celtics domainated the league in the 60s and 70s on a scale that will never be matched again. The 90s Bulls gave it their best shot.

Jordans Bull had an epic 3 year run twice. I'm curious to see how his career plays out if he doesn't get the 2 year break for his body playing baseball.

I don't really know much about basketball, is Phil Jackson a technical genius, like a Bill Belichick? Cause goddamn does he seem weezy and uninspiring.

I love how Knick fans booed the only logical pick there was to make. Porzingis has the most upside of all the players still on the board with the fourth pick. Would they have preferred an even bigger reach?

Colombia's entire strategy was, basically, "let's pull back and see if we can make it to penalties." Argentina played their best game of the tournament thus far, but they're still having trouble scoring, although some nearly miraculous things happened in this match (along with some notable goalkeeping from Ospina) to keep the score tied. Intense stuff, though.

If Carmelo wants to whine that he didn't get more immediate help, Phil should trade him this summer and go full rebuild. Especially after he proved what he could do with J.R. Smith and Shumpert vs. what Lebron could do.

Messi has a night to remember; completes three assists, one of them while sprawled on the ground; a brilliant, anthological run to embarrass the Paraguayan defense and clinch the fourth goal; and several moments of genius; and journalists and fans in Argentina are, like, "Why didn't he score a goal? Nag, nag, nag, nag." Jesus. That line about no one being a prophet in his own land is ever so on point...

Something has really been gnawing away at me since the World Cup Final. The U.S. just had the highest ratings for a soccer match ever, a transcendent moment in American sports history, and we've taken another step towards acceptance and popularity in women's athletics. Yet, I keep bumping into op-eds from assholes (all of them men) who say "This was great...but..." Granted, we run into this every four years with the men's game, but the men never win the World Cup so it's understandable why some keep their enthusiasm in check. However, the U.S. boasts the best women's soccer team in the world, and one of the best overall. Why can't we just celebrate that instead of diminishing it?

Yeah, there's no reason not to be proud of it if you enjoy soccer.

And on the other end of the spectrum, we have a female athlete claiming sexism essentially because women's tennis is less popular than men's.

That, I don't know about. But it's hard to say, considering the differences between men's and women's football and perhaps not entirely fair to compare.

I do kinda like the Rams this season, but not enough to put them in, yet.

curious as to why you think so highly of the Steelers w/ all those suspensions + Pouncey injury + an on-paper subpar defense + tough division.

If they win the division it will be barely, but I'm very high on their offense, regardless of the suspensions. I could totally see Baltimore or Cincy taking the division crown, but I think all those teams have their flaws. If Roethlisberger can perform like he did last year, I like their chances.

I was slightly tempted to not even put Denver in the playoffs and put Baltimore in their place, but I think too highly of their defense to not think they'll figure out a way to get in the postseason.

Can't say I was surprised the Eagles lost. Atlanta is a tough place to play your opener when you have so many new faces that still aren't used to playing together. On the bright side the offense was unstoppable in the second half, and the defense was better. I still expect the defense to struggle through the first few games, however.
