I've had a crappy copy of Betty Blue sitting around my apartment for years and have never watched it, and now Criterion is just giving me more reason to not put on my crappy copy. Urgh.
Happened to me many a times. Most recently with Dragon Inn. It was worth dropping that horrendous but once rare version to watch that one first. One of the more beautiful classic wuxia I've seen.

I have a decent DVD of Now Voyager in a TCM set that's starting to look unlikely of getting a watch.

I don't know how I've made it to 2019 without hearing of Karel Zeman but I'm ready to blind-buy that son of a gun.

About time Karel Zeman got his due over here. I already own all 3 films on Blu-ray, but it looks like Criterion has assembled a great package and they're utterly distinctive, beautifully crafted films. While in Prague, I actually visited the Karel Zeman Museum (which seems to have provided some of the bonus materials for the Criterion edition), which is a charming little space tucked away under Charles Bridge, full of props from his films and breakdowns of many of his special effects. I bought two of the films there, along with a few of his later films.

Also, since Netflix has worked with Criterion to release Roma, I'll be expecting an edition of The Other Side of the Wind any day now. . .

Do Netflix releases get a DVD/BR release? I was looking on Amazon and didn't see Okja listed.

That new Rhomer set looks good, I haven't seen any of his stuff.

I believe the Rohmer set is just a Blu-ray update of their old release. You should watch his stuff if you like to listen to French people talking around things for an entire film.

Haven't seen that one, but Rohmer is reliable, and I hear that one's pretty solid.

I did enjoy Linklater's Before trilogy years ago so I had a tolerance for people just talking then. Now? Who knows.

Big fan of Robinson Crusoe on Mars. The Martian vistas are gorgeous, and there's a monkey in a space suit to boot.

Anybody know if they're doing an Arrow sale any time soon? I vaguely remember the Criterion and Arrow sales overlapping in prior years, but my memory could be playing tricks on me.

I grabbed Ikiru, Holiday, and La Notte. I may pick up some more later in the month, although it's hard to justify buying more when I've already got a stockpile of discs waiting to be watched.

Arrow had a sale in April, so I suspect it will be a few more months before they have another one.

They're both visually sumptuous so I'm expecting eye candy of diabetes-inducing levels. Problem with WotW is there's a lot of composite shots, not to mention stock footage of bombings and whatnot, so I guess some of that is going to be inherently less HD than usual. We'll see.

My local B&N didn't have much left since people stocked up for obvious covid related reasons. Still I bought four (all blind buys): The Camerman, Cold War, The Cranes Are Flying and Leave Her To Heaven. I watched Heaven and Cameraman today-oh and there is another Buster Keaton feature on that one. I'm not sure if I will get any more as I think I bought 10 during the last Barnes & Noble sale.

Indeed, I ordered some discs of them last weekend and I just got an email saying they are being dispatched.

One day though I will realize that an Arrow sale is going on BEFORE Dekalog has already sold out. One day.

New guy question: are those arrow releases playable in the states on BR? And is the shipping a little extra?

Because I found like ten items that I believe we're $9.42 in USD a piece
