Werewolf

Sometimes known as Mafia or Town of Salem.

Basically, there's a village, most people are plain villagers, a couple of them are werewolves (or mafia, or whatever), and maybe 1 is a seer who can detect wolves. The game alternates day and night phases. At night, the wolves choose someone to kill, and the seer chooses someone to scan to find out if they're a wolf. During the day, it's announced who the wolves killed the night before, and then the villagers (and the wolves disguised as villagers) get to vote on who they think is a wolf and want to kill. The village wins if they kill all the wolves, the wolves win if they whittle the village down until there is the same amount of villagers as wolves.

Wolves? What's to stop the Wolves from just biting someone in the village and then just letting them turn inside the village and kill everyone else?

I have never played, by I like games of all sorts. I can only check the internet once a day during weekdays, if that's not an issue.

It shouldn't matter. I would probably do it so a day phase lasts 24 hours, so whenever people are available they can check in, see what others are saying, join the debate and/or vote as needed. Night phases will last as long as it takes for the wolves and seer to PM me their selections, then I'd post the results of the night and start another 24-hour day period. If everyone agrees they want the game to be even slower and allow more time for discussion/voting, we could even do longer day periods than that.

So does everyone who's been posting in here want to be in?

I'm going to send out PMs now letting you all know your roles. Then we will start with the first night. During the night, the wolves will get together, decide on someone to kill, and send me a PM letting me know. The Seer will send me a PM letting me know who they want to scan. Once I get both of those PMs back, I'll announce the results of the night, and day will start, and everyone can debate and vote. The first day will last as long as you all want, I'll try to make days after that last 24 hours.

The seer is a secret, only the seer knows what they find out each night, and they can do whatever they want with that information.

Right. If the seer scans a wolf and comes into the thread and says "i'm the seer, so and so is a wolf" they are definitely getting killed that night. Of course, the play for the wolf identified is to say, "no, I'm a villager, he/she is lying and thus a wolf". You'd know for sure who was the liar and thus the wolf if the status of the player gets revealed after they are killed, which is the way it goes? Or do you just reveal it at the end when either all the villagers or all the wolves are dead?

I'm used to playing where roles are revealed on death, which definitely makes thing easier for the village - they know if they just bagged a wolf or screwed up and killed the seer - but that's for big, complicated games with a ton of special roles, where it'd be a nightmare not to have that information. This game's pretty simple and the village has an edge in the game balance otherwise, so I'll say that poor Stuwie is the last role you'll learn until the end of the game. From now on, roles won't be announced when someone dies.

And also, a reminder: the wolves don't actually have to kill all the villagers to win, they just have to get it down to where there's the same amount of wolves as villagers (so 2 wolves/2 villagers or 1 wolf/1 villager).
