Had to study it at USC, I don't think they told us that they were just gushing over the movie and Capra so much.

In fact, the film did so poorly at the box office, it crippled the independent movie studio Capra founded, forcing for it to be sold off and he was reduced to a low budget tv director who never got the chance to make a mainstream film again. Capra would go on to call the film fatal to his career. It's too bad, really.
