It's been found!

And so, tonight, with everyone dressed to the nines, we have two categories for you, that are related. First up is Best Lefties, followed by Best Film. What is Best Lefties, you say? Well, it's a Best Film of sorts, for the kind of films we want to mention but probably would not vote for in the Best Film category. Called Lefties, because in a way they're leftovers, but also because the political left tends to have a thing for those that get left behind. Hence, Lefties.

The Cabin in the Woods

I knew that this was going to be one of my favorite films of the year even before it came out. I'm a hardcore Joss Whedon and Horror fan and this was a match made in heaven for me. This was perfect. It was nearly one of my picks for not just best leftie but best film.

Do you know what's the major problem in contemporary social life? The tendency to always seek someone cooler than yourself.

Dredd

I was really not expecting Dredd to blow me away like it did. It is everything I could ever want from an action film. It has endless rewatchability. Also, Lena Heady and Olivia Thirlby are great in this.

As I mentioned earlier on this thread as well, I've waited a long time for Carax to make another film and I wasn't the least bit disappointed. Simultaneously rapturous and melancholic, nostalgic and innovative.

I only watched it once because never played close to me, but the trip to go watch it that one time was magical. I had a double feature day where I saw To Rome With Love and then Moonrise Kingdom. Moonrise was better :)

To me, this is almost perfect - in the sense that it's kinda flawed, but I embrace the flaws just like I embrace just about everything in this film.
