15. The Spectacular Spider-Man.

The show: Marvel's best thing on a screen since, perhaps ever. The fact that Disney XD hasn't renewed the show proves they're retarded. I just they're not FOX-like retarded.
The opening: The theme song is very, very catchy and improves with repeated viewings, the way they show the scenes, like coming from the Daily Bugel is awesome, plus, you see Spidey in movement... in such a sweet awesome movement and the fact that with every episode the characters presented change keeps it fresh. Gwen Stacy is the cutest thing ever.
Note: Motherfuckers!!!

I love the theme itself and although the singing has grown on me a little I can still do without it. Awesome intro though.

#. Spider-Man.

The show: It was cool until the plot got too muddy and I stoped knowing what the hell happened.
Wolfy wrote:The 90's Spidey song is better.
The intro: Yeah, yeah, the song is better (love how it sounds like "Spidey" but I hate those dated CGI-buildings. I have to admit that my bias towards the new show is arguably influencing on which show to include on the list.

I hated the CGI buildings... the fact that Spider-Man never hit anybody... the animation blew and got sloppy after the first season etc etc.

#. X-Men.

The show: Actually I barely remember it. The only thing I do is this crossover with Spidey's show where Spidey kicked their butts in one scene.
The opening: The song sounds like a videogame. :|

That was one of my favs in the early 90's. Looking back on it now, it struggles to hold up, especially compared to something like Batman The Animated Series, but I still like it.

Weitzman isn't too kind to it.

Probably that's why I completely forgot about it. :/

Now that I think about it, I find very weird to see zero posts by Alex in any of the two threads, I mean, like 75% of the shows I have are animated. :|

Yeah.

After a while, Marvel just gets fucking lazy with their animated projects. I don't care for their direct-to-DVD/Blu-ray movies either.

14. The Simpsons.

The show: Untouchale at it's peak, shit after it.
The opening: Best thing Danny Elfman has done. The chalkobard and couch gags are awesome.
I don't like the newest intro.

The show: Spongebob's shenanigans independently of his sexual orientation if he has any.
The intro: Is simply hilarious. Hard not to love it. How could I forget about it?

13. Dragon Ball Z (first opening).

The show: Cyclic and predictable plot, fights, shit blowing up, stupid exposition, shitty dialogue, a stale and boring main character, some very good supporting characters that by the end of the show have been sidetracked or forgotten, deus ex machina at the nth potency, Krillin dying every 20-30 episodes, filler episodes are way better than the ones concerning the plot, arguably because Toriyama has good comedy chops. Probably something Michael Bay would've loved to do, well, minus the helicopters.
The intro: Independently of what I think of the show, the intro is pretty fantastic, with a very memorable song, specially the "Chalá". The images match the song well. I love at the end when everything blows up and then every single main character appears... and then Goku becomes a Super Saiyan. The only defect is that the opening is pretty spoilerific.

Life and death are irrelevant in the universe of Dragon Ball. If you get over the idea that an after-life does exist, the series is very nihilistic in that nothing means anything. It's wonderful absurdist comedy.

#. Slam Dunk.

The show: From the parts I saw, it was a comedy about this conflictive dude Sakuragi who enters his high school's basketball team and based on his physical style, defense and rebounding (I don't know if he ever refined his skills, I didn't see that much of the show, I should've though), you know, a style that reminded me of Dennis Rodman, he becomes an important part of the team that also included this dude with glasses who had a sweet stroke behind the three line, the recently transfered HS basketball star Rukawa (who was kind off a douche, Sakuragi hated the shit out of him) and the captain of the team, a muscular dude that looked like a gorilla, and who has a sister Sakuragi has the hots for.
Overall, the show was very, very funny, specially for Sakuragi and the basketball games were actually fun. I also remember a little fourth-wall breaking dude whio popped to explain anything basketball-related stuff that the viewer could ignore, from, I don't know, a zone defense to Kareem Abbdul-Jabbar. Too bad they stopped airing the show here in Mexico. :/
The opening: I only saw it in Spanish so it stays, anyway, after all this years I still remember the song.

#. G-Force: Guardians of Space.

The show: Probably the first anime I ever, ever saw (I was like four or five when I began watching it), it was about this elite squad who dressed like Power Rangers with capes or something who rode this ship that could split in five, similar to the Power Rangers and that in cases of emergency could like, set itself on fire to become some sort of phoenix ship... all of it to defeat Galactor, the first gayish villain I ever saw (at the time I wondered why the villain looked so girly, I... I just didn't get that).
Anyway, of the five members, the #2 was my favorite, being the closest thing to a badass the show had, the leader (#1) seemed Mary-Sueish to me, the girl (#3) was okay, the pilot (#4) was a dude I couldn't really take seriously, I mean, he was pretty much there to pilot the main ship and provide comic relief that was lame and the kid (#5) was damn annoying and I hated him.
The opening: Too much exposition but the theme was memorable.

The opening theme is awesome though.

Anyway, before giving you all my top twelve I will make entries for some other shows with cool/nostalgic/I-forgot-to-include-on-the-list openings. Some you probably know, some you don't. Hopefully you'll enjoy 'em.

#. Zenki.

The show: I don't remember the specifics that well, but from I can remember, Zenki was some kind of demon that usually was always with the appearance of a kid until, with the help of the spell of a gril named Chiaki (I don't remember if she's some kind of miko) he becomes into this badass demon that kills monsters with the Deva Horn (sp?), a weird and powerful magic spike he has on his elbow. Something I do remember of the show was that, as the series progressed, he was starting to lose more and more some of his humanity, tending more to his demonic side making Chiaki more and more concerned for him with some poignant moments in between.
The opening: Badass. The way it begins with those Japanese letters (saying, I guess, the title) make it feel so epic. The theme song is okay too.

Cause he was a badass, that's why.
I still, to this day wonder why did it stop being aired. Damn you TV Azteca!!

Did you watch the other two shows?

I hope they gave the green goblin one as well.

Yeah, most of the good stuff was there, I only remember Mikami and all the incarnations of DB on Televisa.

I remember seeing the whoe Saint Seya series (up to the Poseidon saga) on TV Azteca and rewatching it a few years back when it was re aired.

They also had Sailor Moon and that show with 3 girls using swords ona magical world (Las Guerreras Mágicas? Not sure).

Let's not forget Super Campeones. Great show, with oval balls and tactics that lasted for 3 episodes. Awesome.

#. The Centurions.

The show: Doc Terror and Hacker (a mad scientist and his dumbass sidekick, both fused with machines) try to conquer the world with robots and evil (dumb) plans and three dudes (Max Ray, Jake Rockwell and Ace McCloud... boy, were those names all-american badassery or what?) with special suits have to stop them. Those suits, of course, were able to fuse with awesome weapon systems sent from a satellite by the obligatory bombshell Crystal Kane. Along the show they're joined by Rex Charger and John Thunder, who are also all american awesomeness. Another show I loved. Some of the action scenes were great, I specially loved when Rockwell joined with a machined that turned him into a human motorcycle.
The opening: It has the exposition problem but the very American theme and Rockwell destroying those robots with that machine gun on his chest make it work.

Despite being super popular and all, I never saw a single Saint Seya episode, but my sisters did. I do remember the super melodramatic music and that once my sister put that theme and played a poem by I don't know who named Sentí Frío with hilarious results, specially for the way both matched.

EDIT: It was a fragment of the poem Nocturno by José Asunción Silva.
They also had Sailor Moon and that show with 3 girls using swords ona magical world (Las Guerreras Mágicas? Not sure).
I've already mentioned Sailor Moon's awesomeness. I had a crush of Sailor Mars.
I never saw Las Guerreras Mágicas though.
I also remember the super cheesy and melodramatic Remi. That show sucked balls.
Let's not forget Super Campeones. Great show, with oval balls and tactics that lasted for 3 episodes. Awesome.
I hated the Mary-Sueish Oliver and his physically imposible shots. I watched the show to see him lose but that only happened once that I remember (and I was happy to see him cry like a little bitch.

I'm no anime fan but I remember how popular Sailor Moon was. I crushed on some of those characters when I was oh, 12ish.

Anyway, before giving you all my top twelve I will make entries for some other shows with cool/nostalgic/I-forgot-to-include-on-the-list openings. Some you probably know, some you don't. Hopefully you'll enjoy 'em.
I'm probably disqualifying myself 'cus I said that I'm no "anime" fan but I absolutely adore the original Dragonball and everything through the Freezer saga. Yes, I watched it all in original Japanese, not the bastardized Funimation English version.
